NAVARATRI, 2017

Navaratri is one of the most religious festivals since Vedic times. This year the festival is celebrated from 21st September to 30th September, 2017. It is a nine day festival that ends with Dussehra in the northern parts of India or Vijaya Dasami in the southern regions. The festival symbolises victory of good over evil. During the first three days of the festival, goddess Maha Shakthis is worshipped as Goddess Durga. During the following three day ie from fourth to sixth, she is worshipped and Goddess Lakshmi and the last three days she is revered as Goddess Saraswathi.

Day 1 Pratipada - Patteeswaram Temple Puja Fulfils All Desires

Fulfill all wishes at this famous temple where Goddess Durga performed tapas or deep meditation. The temple got its name after Patti the offspring of Kamadhenu, the sacred cow assisted the deity in her penance. The temple has a glorious past. Lord Shiva protects the fragile Saint Thiru Gnanasambandar against the scorching heat with an awning or roof made of pearls. The Chola kings before going to battle worshipped the deity here.
Lord Rama worshipped the Goddess before going to Lanka to retrieve Sita. Sage Viswamithra uttered the Gayathri Mantra in this place and was conferred with the title Brahma Rishi by Saint Vasishta.

Day 2 Dwitiya - Chandi Navakshari Homam Subdues Negative Energies(Completed)

 
Also called Navarna Mantra or Chandi mantra, the Navakshari having nine syllables is a very strong and intense verse. It is the basic mantra of the Sri Durga Saptashati Path and pays tributes to Goddesses Mahasaraswati, Mahalakshmi and Mahakali. The homam aims at invoking the three powerful feminine energies to come into our lives to fulfil our worldly spiritual desires with ease.  It helps fight against evil spirits and negative vibrations. By performing the ritual, one gains abundance and divine knowledge. It releases sins, removes effects of black magic, malefic planets, ill luck and impediments due to enemies. The Navakshari Homam builds will power, self confidence and grants victory.

Day 3 Tritiya - 
Kaligambal Temple Puja Solves All Domestic Issues

The Kaligambal temple situated in Chennai is one of the oldest temples that exist since 17th century. Lord Shiva manifests here as Lord Kamateswarar. The goddess, Kaligambal, a tranquil form of Durga, is considered the guardian angel of the city.

Day 4 Chaturthi - Ashta Lakshmi Temple Puja Grants Multifold Blessings 

The Asha Lakshmi temple, is an abode to eight forms of Maha Lakshmi, benefactor of wealth and prosperity. Goddess Mahalakshmi had emerged from the ocean when it was being churned by the gods and demons for the nectar of immortality. The architecture of the temple is unique, with the deities installed in four levels. The principle deities are Mahalakshmi and Mahavishnu and the eight forms of the goddess are located in different directions of the temple on various floors. Day 5 Panchami - Ashta Lakshmi Homam Gifts  You Will All Types of Wealth(Completed)

Ashta Lakshmi Homam is performed for the purpose of achieving eight material forms of wealth like money, success, progeny, food, luck, strength, courage and education. Goddess Lakshmi manifests herself in eight forms blessing devotees with eight types of aspects mentioned above. The eight forms are Dhan Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Adi Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi & Santana Lakshmi. You are blessed with the divine grace of goddess Lakshmi and by getting all comforts in life you become happy. Day 6 Shasthi -
 Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Puja Wipes Out All Ailments

The Lakshmi Narasimha temple located in Sholingur in Vellore district is one the 108 Divya Desams. It is also a famous pilgrimage spot. Yoga Narasimhar, the deity of the temple sits atop a hill. If one has to reach to the top, one has to climb 1305 steps that lead to the main temple while another 750 steps carved on a smaller hill leads to Yoga Anjaneya temple. 

Performing puja in this temple is therapy by itself because it relieves the devotees of many ailments, especially mental illnesses. It removes negative energies/evil spirits. For perfect wedding matches, and boon of a child and also for doing away with sorrows in life, worship Lord Yoga Narasimha who presents Himself with consort Goddesss Amruthavalli. 

Day 7 Saptami - Koothanur Saraswathi Temple Puja Eliminates Career Problems

Amidst beautiful locales in the town of Koothanur, near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu is the home of the goddess of learning, Maha Saraswathi. The place got its name after Ottakoothan a native of the area sought the blessings of the goddess to grant him wishes of becoming a poet.

Devotees worshipping here are gifted with the boon of knowledge and wisdom.
All problems related to employment, business, career are simplified. Estranged couples are united for good after worshipping the deity here.

Day 8 Ashtami - Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple Puja Bestows Success

Dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi, the Kanchi Kamakshi temple is one of the 51 Shakthi peetams and Goddess Kamakshi is depicted in Padmasana posture, also referred to as Parabhrama Swarupini. Adi Shankara composed the Saundarya Lahiri to pacify the goddess and installed the Sri Chakram inside the sanctum which is revered every day. It was then that the goddess became Shanta Swarupini (blissful form) from Ugra Swarupini (the fierce one).
The goddess grants prosperity, inner peace and perennial joy to her devotees. She removes obstacles in the path of marriage and therefore young girls worship here to enter into wedlock. Also, people worship the goddess to beget children.

Day 9 Navami - Neela Saraswathi Homa Gives Boon of Sharp Memory, Knowledge 

Goddess Neela Saraswathi is also known as Tara Devi, one of the Dasa Mahavidyas. She shows devotees the right direction, gives power of speech and knowledge and destroys enemies. The homa also blesses one with sharp memory, intelligence, communication skills. It instils confidence to achieve success. This ritual is highly recommended for students for success in exams, improving confidence and competence. It grants them success in all their endeavours. 

The goddess is different from that of the traditional Saraswathi though she imparts her knowledge and creative energy to her devotees. This form is more tantric with powerful mantras and shlokas dedicated to her. Sage Vyasa completed the 18 Maha Puranas due to the grace of Goddess Tara also known as Vaak Siddhi Pradhayani, the bestower of mystic powers of speech.
