Budhanilakantha Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Nepal. The temple is also known as the Narayanthan Temple. Lord Vishnu and houses an exceptional idol of the presiding deity seen in a reclining posture in a pool of water. It is the largest sculptures statue in Nepal that attracts not just devotees but also tourists in large numbers, especially during the occasion of Haribondhini Ekadashi Mela in the month of (October/ November).The name Budhanilkantha means 'old blue throat' and is believed to be sculpted during the reign of Vishnu Gupta, a monarch who served under the King of the valley of Kathmandu, King Bhimarjuna Dev, in the 7th century.  The water in Budhanilakantha is believed to have originated from Gosainkund, a lake formed as a result of Lord Shiva’s trident striking with the mountainside. The temple houses the country’s largest and most beautiful stone-carved idol of Lord Vishnu believed to have been made with a single block of black basalt stone of unknown origin. In this temple Lord Vishnu sits as a direct idol while Lord shiva is indirectly enthroned in water. The temple is a popular for its carvings, the temple established here is known as Budhanilakandha temple. The sleeping idol of Lord Vishnu enshrined in thr temple. Devotees which attracts lakh of people during Hari ekadasi. Budhanilkantha Temple has become the site where Haribondhini Ekadashi Mela takes place on the 11th day of the Hindu month of Kartika (October–November). Attended by thousands of pilgrims, it is the temple's principal festival in celebration of the awakening of Lord Vishnu from his long sleep. Devotees offer prayers with the combined blessing bestowed with enormous wealth, peace, harmony and never ending prosperity, eliminating all bad and evil effects and negativeness from planetary positioning, disease free life and bondage's.
