Lingaraja Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. The temple has a traditional South Indian style, with features of five-tier architecture, with delightful entrance called 'Rajagopuram. The temple is adorned with beautiful sculptures, which have been carved on the spire. Lingaraja temple is approximately fifty four kilo metres high and enshrines a huge statue of Lord Shiva, made up of granite. The idol of Lord Shiva is eight feet in diameter and is placed on a platform that is about eight inches above ground. Lingaraj Temple is a spectacular of Orissa style of temples with a hint of Kalinga style of architecture. This remarkable structure is crafted out of darkest shade sand sculptures looking exemplary in its form. The main entrance of the temple is towards the east, while smaller entrances exist towards the northern and southern sides. As per legacy, the temple also puts some light on how the peaceful worship of Lord Vishnu and Shiva co-existed during the ancient period.
