Thiruvellakulam Divya desam familiarly called as Annakoil, which is the birth place of  Kumudhavalli Nachiyar, a consort of Thirumangai Azhwar. This is the one and only Divyadesam where Thirumangai Azhwar praised the almighty as Annan Perumal.

He called no other perumals as Annan in his pasurams. Hence the temple is also called as Annakoil, means that here the moolavar Annan Perumal is worshipped as elder brother of Srinivasan at Tirumala Tirupati.

Hence devotees who can not go to Tirumal Tirupati can come and worship Annan Perumal here at Thiruvellakulam. This is the one and only Divyadesam where Moolavar and Thayar has the same names as Tirumala Tirupati.

Unlike Tirumala Tirupati, Annan Perumal can be worshipped together Thayar Alarmel Mangai. Thiruvellakulam Divyadesam is located just 8 KM south east of Seerkazhi.The temple complex has a single prakaram (closed precincts of a temple) and separate shrines for Perumal, Manavala mamunigal, Nachiar and Nammalvar.

Thiruvellakkulam or Annan Perumal Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated  to Lord Vishnu located 11 km southwest of Sirkali, Tamil Nadu,  India. It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu revered by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars.

Lord Vishnu granted darshan to great scholar and Acharya Sri Manavala Mamunigal in this temple.  It is also noteworthy that Saint Tirumangai Azhwar addressed only two Perumals as Anna in his hymns, Lord of Tirupathi and this Perumal.

It is said that the first was this Perumal, thus enjoying the status of elder brother-Annan to Tirupati Lord.  Hence, Lord of this temple is praised as Annan Perumal and place Annan Koil

As in Tirupati, the name of the Lord here too is Srinivasan and of Mother Alarmel Mangai.  Tirumangai Azhwar praises this place as Bhooloka Vaikumdam  Vaikumdam on Earth.

Vikasi first 5 days vasantha utsavam, protasi bramotsavam like Tirupathi and Aadi month last friday thirukalyanam are been celebrated here.

This is a Divya Desam.  Lord Perumal is facing east in a standing form.  The Vimana above the sanctum sanctorum is known as Tatvat Yodhaga Vimana.  Rudra and Swetharajan had the darshan of the Lord

Do:

  • Do maintain silence and recite your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
