Gowrikund Arul Manna Nayakar Temple is a popular Himalayan shrine at about 4000 Meters above sea level where it is believed that Gowri (Parvati) meditated upon Shiva. Surya and Chandra are also believed to have worshipped Shiva here. This shrine is situated on the route between Rishikesh and Kedarnath.

Four shrines to Shiva in the Himalayas have been glorified by the Tevaram hymns of the Tamil Nayanmar saints of the 1st century. They are Indraneela Parvatam, Gowrikund, Kedarnath and Mount Kailash.

Although none of the Nayanmars has visited this Gowrikund, Sambandar has sung about Gowrikundam from Kalahasti. Gowrikund or Anekatankaavadam is the first of the Tevara Stalams hailed by the Tamil chants of the Nayanmars.

Arul Manna Nayakar Temple is located at  Anekatangavadam in Uttarkhand. This Holy Shrine is one among 275 Shiva Sthalam and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Arul Manna Nayakar Temple Primary deity God Shiva offers his devotees to attain wealth, Prosperity and  Health. The devotees visit this temple to attain Salvation (Moksham) and get relief from incurable disease.

Lord Shiva bestows his devotees to enhance business and career and Helps to gain Knowledge. Gowri is believed to have taken a bath here after giving birth to Kartikeya.As per the legend, at Triyuginarayan, south of here Shiva and Parvati were married.

The fire ignited during their wedding is said to be burning at Agnikund. Also nearby, is the temple to Mundkatta Ganesh without a head, Shiva is believed to have cut off the head of Parvati's son Ganesh and then invigorated him to life here.

  • Do pray your Ishta Devata before pilgrimage to Temple.
  • Do contact Temple Devasthanam information centre for enquiry, temple information and for Pooja details etc.
  • Do reserve your travel and accommodation at Temple well in advance.
  • Do bath and wear clean clothes before you enter the temple.
  • Do concentrate on God and Goddess inside the temple.
  • Do maintain silence and recite your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
