Mahurye Ekaveerika Shakthi Peeth is the 8th Maha Shakthi Peeth. Devi Sati is worshipped as Ekaveerika Mata. Devi Sati's head had fallen here. Ekaveerika Shakthi Peeth is located on the banks of Panch Ganga River near a small village Heure in Mahur, Nanded District, Maharashtra.

Ekaveerika Shakthi Peeth is a small shrine with one hall and a sanctum Sanctorum. Only the head of the deity is here. Ekaveerika mata is the elder sister of Renuka Devi, the wife of Sage Jamadagni. Ekaveerika Shakthi Peeth is a seat of Tantric worship. People offer Bali to Devi.

Mahur is famous for Renuka Devi temple and very few people are knowing about Ekaveerika devi temple and mostly they call Renuka devi temple as shakti peeth. We find more rush at Renuka devi temple than Ekaveerika mata temple. It is said that Ekaveerika Devi is the elder sister of Renukadevi. Renuka devi temple is 800 years old.

Dasara during Ashwija Masa (Sep- Oct) is celebrated with great fervour. A big fair is held on Vijayadashmi day, during which people from nearby towns and cities visit the temple.Datta Jayanti or Datta Poornima is celebrated with religious fervour.

When Sati, the wife of Shiva, sacrificed herself at the Yajna performed by her father Daksha, a very distraught Shiva started dancing with her body. He was dancing the dance of destruction. And the gods said, "Oh, we are doomed! Shiva is dancing the dance of destruction. 

Vishnu took his bow and cut the body of Sati into fifty-one pieces with his arrows. And wherever a piece of the Divine Mothers body fell on earth, that place became a Shakti Peetha.

It is one of the 51 Shaktipeethas and  it known as " Mahurye Ekaveerika" Ekaveera Mayura; or Ekaveera Mata, or Goddess Ekaveera Mata temple at Mahur, Nanded dist.

Also called Mayura Kshetram or Matru Patanam.This temple 19/,23kms, from Mahur village, on the bank of Pen ganga (Pancha ganga river), in the fields. The temple has the' head' of the deity goddess .

  • Do not eat non-vegetarian food in the Kshetram.
  • Do not approach mediators for quick Darshanam. It may cause inconvenient to others.
  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
