A temple called kadaimudinathar temple situated  in keelayur in nagapattinam district is said to be a special place for those who are in need of these multiple benefits in a single place.The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.

Lord dhakshinamoorthy who is in shodasha lingam form is the god for all people who need 16 benefits.Amman in this temple is called abirami and the temple is situated at a distance of 12 kms from mayiladuthurai. 

Legend has it that Bhrama  worshipped Shiva here. The looping of the river Kaveri, in an almost westward flow is considered to be of significance here. Four worship services are offered each day; Arudra Darisanam and Kartikai Deepam are also celebrated here.

This temple remains open from6.30 AM to 11.30 PM in the morning and 4.30 PM to 7.30 PM in the evenings.

Keezhaiyur Kadaimudinathar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Keezhaiyur in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Kadaimudinathar. His consort is Abirami.

It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams ,Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite NayanarTirugnanasambandar.

Lord Brahma realized the significance of this sacred land,  he arrived on this place and constructed a worship place for Lord shiva, created a pond  called Brahma Theertham and worshipped Lord Shiva with the water from the pond.  Lord was pleased at the devotion of Lord Brahma and  provided dharshan under the Kinuva tree situated in the temple vicinity.

  • Do concentrate on God and Goddess inside the temple.
  • Do maintain silence and recite Om Namahsivaya or your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

  • Do not come to Temple for any purpose other than worshipping of God and Goddess.
  • Do not smoke at Temple.
  • Do not consume alcoholic drinks at Temple.
  • Do not eat non-vegetarian food in the Kshetram.
  • Do not approach mediators for quick Darshanam. It may cause inconvenient to others.
  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
