Kondathu Kali Amman is an ancient temple located in Pariyur, Gobichettipalayam, India. The temple is around thousand years old. The temple has a traditional South Indian style, with features of a five-tier architecture, with delightful entrance called 'Rajagopuram' and an outer Mandapam covering the inner sanctum made of black marble. There are intricate carving on the pillars of the temple including a ball shaped of single sculptures inside the Lion mouth. The lion is considered the main vehicle of the Goddess Kali. The Goddess Kali facing north wears a crown of fire and is seen stamping a demon under her feet. Lord Rudra is believed to be on the head of the Goddess Kali. History
 
The current temple was built in the mid of 1950s. The place was previously known as Azhagapuri and the name Pariyur cames from the Pari, Place ruled by Pari (King). Goddess Kali facing North direction. Hearsay reports cannot confirm the presence of better temple in the immdiate past. However, the numerous sculptures carved pillars and the fantastic art work cannot be ignored. The lion mount opposite the Goddess Kali has a swirling Sculptures ball in its mouth which cannot be taken out. The initial structure was built by the last King Pari who is believed to be a staunch supporter of Goddess Kali and hence is considered as builder of this magnificent temple. The temple is also of great importance considering its architectural value. The interior of the temple is made of black marble which is covered by the mandapan. There are many intricate carvings and idols of deities. Goddess Chinna Amman is a miniature form of the main Goddess which finds a separate place in the shrine. Separate idols dedicated to Lord Siddhi Vinayaka, Goddess Pon Kaliamman and Lord Maha Muniappan are also found. It is considered that Lord Maha Muniappan is the destroyer of all evil and a savior of the children. In addition statues of Lord Maheswarari, Lord Gowmar, Goddess Vaishnavi and the entire enshrine. The idol of the main Goddess faces south and has a crown of fire on her head which is studded with Lord Rudra. The idol showcases her killing a demon which signifies end of all evil. Lion is the Main vehicle of Goddess Kali and, hence is worshipped with all care and devotion.
Many Auspicious festivals are observed in this temple. The temple conduct special event on Fire Pit Walking ceremony. Goddess Kali Amman protects devotees affected by magic spells, blesses with child boon, high yield in farm occupation and wealth. Lord Rudra is believed to be on the head of the Goddess. Her crown is fire of flames. Goddess kali appears as Rudra Kali. The face of Lord Rudra is on the head of the Goddess Kali. Auspicious Fire Walking Ceremony is held during January every year. The ceremony is 40 feet in length and devotees lakshs visit the temple during this ceremony. The annual car festival is celebrated during that with grandeur. This temple attracts a large gathering from he surroundings places all the time. Kumbhabhishekam is also celebrated once in every 12 years. In addition, there are other festivals which are observed such as Car festival, Navaratri in the month of october, Pongal, Tamil near year and Adi Perukku in the month of August. Being of religious importance, it also considered a devoted place for marriages.

  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
