Sri Kumara Kottam Temple is located in Kanchipuram,India.The Kumarakottam Temple is a Hindu temple and it is dedicated to Lord Murugan,the Hindu war god and the son of god shiva and his wife parvathi.
      
The Temple is also known as "Subramaniyam Swamy Temple".The most important festival in this temple is "skanda shasti".Subramanya(muruga) is the main deity of this temple.Two consorts are valli and devasena are found in the main shrine.There are people who believe that Lord Muruga in this temple was worshipped by the saint Agastya.One noticeable thing is that Valli in this temple has four arms, whereas the other consort of Lord - Devasena has just two hands.In front of the main shrine, you can find elephant instead of peacock.

Sri Kumara Kottam Temple was built in its present form around the year 1915.

According to mythology, Lord Muruga punished Lord Brahma for his ignorance of the meaning of the Pranava Mantra, by a hard knock on his vortex with his fist and then imprisoned him.

The Temple was finally renovated in 1915.
