About:


         The Chandraghanta is the form where Brahmachairini completes her penance on getting a boon from Brahma to beget Lord Shiva. Shiva accepted her penance and transformed her into Chandraghanta to save her father and kingdom. She reformed her wealth and family.


She begets Lord Shiva with her father Himavan in his palace. , which represents her bravery and courage. She has a half moon on her fore head which signifies the name Chandraghanta.


Temple:


    Maa Chandraghanta Temple is Located at ck 23/34 Chitha Ghanta Gulli, Varanasi. People can reach Chowk and walk to reach the temple.


Day-3: Chandraghanta devi:


       Third day is Tritiya and was celebrated for the Goddess Chandraghanta. This Durga is one among the NavDurga.


Chandraghanta grace all the sins, distress, physical suffering, mental trouble and ghostly hurdles for devotees are eradicated. Maa Chandraghanta is ever ready to destroy the wicked, but for her devotees she is ever visible as the kind and compassionate mother showering tranquility and richness


This form of Durga is different from all durga with ten hands holdings a trident, mace, arrow, bow, swords, lotus, goad, bell and waterpot, one of her hand remains in blessing posture. She rides on a tiger.


Devotees, who have many enemies and obstacles in their life, should worship Devi Chandraghanta on third day of Navratri. Goddess Chandraghanta then destroy all obstacles and fears of devotee and destroy enemies and demons.



 


Color of the Navaratri - Day 3(15.10.2015):


      Color for this Day to celebrate Maa Chandraghanta on Oct 15th 2015 is calculated as Yellow. Devotees wear Yellow color dress and pray to Mata to get nourish in their life.


Prasadam:


    Devotees prepare Pongali as Naivedyam to God and distribute as prasadam.

Meaning:


O Goddess Chandraghanta, who rides on Tiger, angry on enemies, holds many weapons in 10 hands, be propitious to me. 




Do's:


  •  Do Chandraghanta Homa to attain power from Goddess.
  •  Visit nearby temple to get blessings from mata Durga.
  •   Prefer Fasting during Puja.
  •   Do Pooja and Vrat for Goddess to invite her home.
  •  Do Meditation and think of Goddess Durga to lead a happy life.
  •   Offer Milk, Sweets, Kheer.  This blesses us with disease free life.


Don'ts:

 

  •  Don't eat bitter or non-vegetarian food.
  •  Don't use leather items during this period.
  •  Don't eat before doing puja in the evening, Eat after 6pm.
  •  Don't keep any broken statue in golu area.
  •  Don't indulge in any violent activities during puja days.
