About :

Lord Shiva and Parvathi was in the state of meditation at that time their powers would mingle together and they form a single energy. Lord Indra in coming to know this informed Lord Agni to take that energy to save them from the demon Tarakasura.

Agni enters the cave and took the energy with him. After meditation Parvathi came to know about this she gave a curse to Lord Agni that he will always be burning. No one can able to touch him ,if so they turn into black ash.

After that Lord Shiva made her calm down and created Lord Karthik or Skanda who is not the son of Parvathi, he was with the six Krittikas. But to parvathi with the mother nature and an example to every one took Skanda as her Son and she took him to the Kailash. So this form of Durga is Skandamata. She rides on Lion to Kailash.
