About:


     Kaalratri is the form of Goddess. She is believed to be the form of Parvathi. Parvathi created Chandi to destroy the two demons Shumbha and Nishumbha. She went to the battlefield while she was fighting the Demons sent the asura chanda- munda. So she created Kalli or Kaalratri,  she killed that asura and gained the name Chamuda.


Again the battle continued, they again sent a demon who named as Raktvej. He is a demon who had the boon that if any drop of blood of him fells on ground it can be cloned into another Raktvej so he cannot be killed. Hence at the battlefield Maa Kaalratri drunk his blood for each of her attack. She helped Maa Chandi to kill Shumbha and Nishumbha and save demiGods.


Prasadam:


     Garelu and Lemon rice is prepared as prasadam to Goddess and offered as Naivedyam to devotees.


Temple:


     Maa Kaalratri Temple is located at D.8/17, Kalika Galli, Varanasidevotees travel to get dharshan of Kaalratri.

 

Day -7: Kaalratri Devi:


       Seventh day is Saptami and was celebrated for the Goddess Kaalratri. She is also known as Shubhamkari. Mata Kaalratri is one who destroys ignorance and removes darkness.  This form primarily depicts that life has dark side - the violent Mother Nature.


She is with four arms and rides on a donkey. She carries asword, trident and a noose and she blesses with other hand. She possesses three eyes. Kaalratri Devi looks very strange in appearance. She is with full angry and that reflect in her face.

 

Althought the outward form of mother Kalaratri is extremely frightening yet she always bestows boons on her devotees and she always brings welfare to her devotees.


Those who worship her with a purified mind they are relieved from all distresses and will enjoy prosperity and pleasures. She is the destroyer of all ghost, demons, goblins and evil-minded person. So her devotees will enjoy the state of fearlessness.




Color of the Navaratri - Day 7 (19.10.2015):


     Color for this day seven is calculated as white. Devotees wear white color dress and pray to Maa Kaalratri to get her blessings.

Meaning:



This mantra describes her form. She is naked, rides on an donkey, long tongue, lustrous body, wearing ornaments in legs like lightning, black in color, unlocked hair, big eyes and ears and very dangerous looking.


 


Do's:


  •  Do Kaalratri Homam to attain power from Goddess.
  • Prefer Fasting during Puja.
  • Visit nearby temple to get blessings from mata Durga.
  • Do Pooja and Vrat for Goddess to invite her home.
  • Do Meditation and think of Goddess Durga to lead a happy life.
  • Offer Jaggery. This helps us to Remove the evils.


Don'ts:


  • Don't eat bitter or non-veg food.
  • Don't eat before doing puja in the evening, Eat after 6pm.
  • Don't keep any broken statue in golu area.
  • Don't use Leather items this period.
  • Don't indulge in any violent activities during puja days.
