Kaalratri is the form of Goddess. She is believed to be the form of Parvathi. Parvathi created Chandi to destroy the two demons Shumbha and Nishumbha. She went to the battlefield while she was fighting the Demons sent the asura chanda- munda. So she created Kalli or Kaalratri, she killed that asura and gained the name Chamuda.
Again the battle continued, they again sent a demon who named as Raktvej. He is a demon who had the boon that if any drop of blood of him fells on ground it can be cloned into another Raktvej so he cannot be killed. Hence at the battlefield Maa Kaalratri drunk his blood for each of her attack. She helped Maa Chandi to kill Shumbha and Nishumbha and save demiGods.
