Sri Hanuman Temple is located in Port Dickson, Colombo. The Presiding deity of the temple is Lord Panchamukha Hanuman is a five-faced idol of Lord Anjaneyar in the temple. The speciality of the temple is When the Lord Hanuman was placed, it was facing straight but later it changed position and turned left, facing the sea. It is the first Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka. Also, it happens to be the only Panchamuga (five faced) Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka. The main deity of this temple is Sri Hanuman. In addition statues of Nandi, Navagraha, Lord Rama, Sita, Jain idol of Lord Parshwanath, and Ganesha statues are found at this temple.
The Lord Anjaneyar had turned his head was due to the slaughter that was occurring in the temple. Meats offering together with intoxicating liquors were being served to other deities in the shrine. Devotees have seen an apparition of Lord Hanuman mediating in this temple. Lord Panchamukha Hanuman refers to the five faces of the Lord. He assumed this form to destroy Mahiravana, brother of Ravana who captured Rama and Lakshmana and took them to the nether world as a sacrifice to Mahamaya, a witch and guru of Mahiravana. The Panchamukha Hanuman is considered a very auspicious god. His five faces that of Hanuman, Hayagriva, Lord Garuda, Varaha, and Lord Narasimha confer special blessings upon devotees.

He never allows harmful energies to invade your space, showers affluence, blesses you with skill and brings chastity of mind and accomplishment.He protects from all evil forces, enemies and negative thoughts. Because he’s strong and mighty, Lord Anjaneya is worshipped during times of trouble and duress.

Anjaneya Facing East - Grants purity of mind, removes sin & grants Ishta Siddhi.
Karala Ugraveera Narasimha Facing South - Grants victory and Abhista Siddhi.
Mahaveera Garuda Facing West - Corrects evil spells, black magic, removes poisonous effects in one’s body and sakala soubhagya.
Lakshmi Varaha facing North - Showers prosperity and wealth or Dhana Prapthi.
Urdhva Mukha or Hayagriva - The sky bestows with Sarva Vidya Jaya Prapthi.

  • Do reserve your travel and accommodation at Temple well in advance.
  • Do bath and wear clean clothes before you enter the temple.
  • Do concentrate on God and Goddess inside the temple.
  • Do maintain silence and recite Om Namahsivaya or your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.
