Kanchi Sree Pavalavanna Perumal Temple is the one and only Divya desam where the almighty is being praised for his colour as "Pavalavannan blesses under "Pavala Vimanam in a Sitting Posture facing West along with his Conch and Discus on the couch of five headed Adhiseshan by bending one foot at a right angle almost up to his waist with his  Abyahastha Mudra.

Accordingly Biruhu Muni wnet to Brahma Logam where he saw Lord Brahma Devar was quiet buzy in his creations and not had not ime to spare with the mahirishi. After that Birugu went to Kailayam where he was not even noticed by Lord Eswaran.

Annoyed Mahirishi finally went to Vaikundhaml where he saw paranthaman in Yoga Nitthirai. Aggravated Biruhu kicked the almighty on his chest. Woken up Paranthaman did not get angered but surprisingly asked the Mahirishi whether his legs were hurted by the kick.

Biruhu Muni felt ashamed of his act and wanted to atone for his shocking act. Paranthaman advised him to to undergo a penance at  Kanchipuram and later gave him darshan as  Pavalavannan in the same form in which Bhrigu Maharishi darshaned him at Vaikuntham  An idol of Bhrigu Maharishi can also be worshipped inside the temple.

Tiru Pavala Vannam or Pavalavanam temple 
is a Divya Desam,  Hindu  Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, located at located in  Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the 108 divyadesams or holy abodes of Lord Vishnu.

The temple follows the traditions of the Thenkalai sect of Vaishnavite tradition Vaikunta Ekadesi and during the Tamilmonth of Margazhi draws lot of pilgrims.

Once when Lord Brahmadevar wanted to carry out an "Ashwamedha Yagam in order to see the ALMIGHTY in HIS Viswaroopa Posture ( Ref the legend pertaining to Kanchi Athi Varadhar Temple ), he was not particular about the support from Goddess Saraswathi and proceeded to conduct the Yagam alone.

Goddess Saraswathi got aggravated and started to trouble Brahmadevar and his Ashwamedha Yagam. She sent a Group of Asuras to destroy the yagna. Lord Brahma in turn requested the help of Paranthaman.

To save Lord Brahma Devar and his Yagna from the Asuras, Lord Maha Vishnu destroyed all the asuras sent by Goddess Saraswathi during which the blood of Asuras sprained all over HIS body and had given HIM the colour of Red like Pavalam meansRuby and remained here as  Pavalavannan.

  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

  • Do not come to Temple for any purpose other than worshipping of God and Goddess.
  • Do not smoke at Temple.
  • Do not consume alcoholic drinks at Temple.
  • Do not eat non-vegetarian food in the Kshetram.
  • Do not approach mediators for quick Darshanam. It may cause inconvenient to others.
  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
