Sangameswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple in Bhavani, in the Erode district, of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.The temple was built at the confluence of Kaveri river, Bhavani river and agaya gangai, an invisible underground water source.

The temple was praised in old Tamil literatures Thirupugazh, Pillaithamizh by Thirugnanasambandar and Arunagiriyar, as Thirunana. Raja Gopuram (Primary Tower) of the Temple is facing north. Kottai (Fort) Vinayagar and Kottai (Fort) Anjaneyar appear at the side of the Tower in the front. Behind the Tower.

Then at the Western side, the temples of Adhikesava Perumal and Soundaravalli Goddess are lying. Between them, Yoga Lakshmi Narasimhar Sannathi lies.Venugopal Swamy Sannathi is at the Northern side of Ranga Mantap.

Apart from Sangameswarar Sannithi, there are also other Sannithis for the Gods like Murugan, Adhi Kesava Perumal, Soundaravalli Thayar, Goddesses Vedhanayaki, Deities like Raja Ganapathi, Muthukumaraswami alies Kalyana Subramaniar, Jothilingam, Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Amirthalingam, Lakshmii Narasimhar and Jeshtadevi are lying here

The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

Festivals:

13 day Brahmmotsaam in Chithirai (April-May), Vaikasi Visakam May-June , Aadipooram (July-August), Aadi Velli (July-August). Mahasivarathri (February-March), Annabishekam, Tirukarthikai (November-December), Thai Poosam (January-February), Skanda Sashti in Aipasi (October-November), Vinayaka Chaturthi and Navarathri in Purattasi (September-October) are the festivals celebrated in the temple.



Sangameswarar Temple is located in Kottaimedu ,Erode , TamilNadu. This is a Hindu Temple Dedicated to Lord Siva and is one among Kongu Nadu Shiva Sthalams. The temple is situated at confluence spot of River Bhavani and River Cauvery. This is one of 275 Siva Devara sthalam.

Three holy rivers,Cauvery, Bhavani and Amudha merge together. This place is popularly known as Bhavani Kooduthurai and several thousands of people gather here during Aadi Amavashya to offer prayers for their ancestors .

It is the staunch belief of the devotees that prayer to Lord Sangameswara for the younger people on the verge of death, would surely change the destiny and restore them to life.

It is believed that if final rites are performed here for those whose death has been untimely , their souls will rest in peace. Also when bodies are cremated here, the skull of the deceased does not burst which is of unique significance. Thousands of devotees gather here during Aadi perukku to take a holy dip in the river and float flowers, lamps and germinated seeds as offerings to the holy rivers.

Sangama Kshetram this is a place considered good for any type of pariharam. Rituals for ancestors are performed here. On the day we went here lot of devotees were performing rituals and pariharam.

Kubera, son of Vishrava was gifted an aircraft to visit Shiva temples across the country in recognition of his devotion to Lord Shiva. While he was flying near the river Cauvery Kubera  was surprised to see a deer, tiger, cow, elephant, snake and rat drinking water near an  Ilandhai  tree on the river bank without enmity, to answer his wonder Kubera heard a voice from the sky saying it was a place where vedas visited, inhabited by gandharvas and advised him to worship the shivalingam under the iilanadhi tree.

  • Do contact Temple Devasthanam information centre for enquiry, temple information and for Pooja details etc.
  • Do reserve your travel and accommodation at Temple well in advance.
  • Do bath and wear clean clothes before you enter the temple.
  • Do concentrate on God and Goddess inside the temple.
  • Do maintain silence and recite your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

Don't s:

  • Do not come to Temple for any purpose other than worshipping of God and Goddess.
  • Do not smoke at Temple.
  • Do not consume alcoholic drinks at Temple.
  • Do not eat non-vegetarian food in the Kshetram.
  • Do not approach mediators for quick Darshanam. It may cause inconvenient to others.
  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
