Lord Ganesha Removes Obstacles and Gives Abundance.For success, wisdom and wealth who else to worship but Lord Ganesha? Vinayaka, Vigneshwara or Ganapathi is the lord who is looked upon as the remover of obstacles. He is the perfect epitome of arts and science and is known for his wisdom and intellect.His large head symbolises his vast wisdom, understanding and huge intellect.His wide mouth signifies natural human desire to enjoy life, the large ears to listen to others and assimilate ideas. The trunk can hold everything in the universe and represents ‘OM’ the sacred sound of cosmic reality. The two tusks represent wisdom and emotion. The eyes are for surrendering one’s pride and humility. The trident drawn on the forehead symbolises time.The four arms represent the four inner attributes mind, intellect, ego and conscience. The hand wielding axe denotes surrender of worldly desires and also removes obstacles from path. The axe shows man the path of righteousness and truth. The hand holding the noose removes obstacles in the path, the lotus flower signifies highest goal of human evolution.The seven oceans are encompassed inside the belly. They are held together by the snake around his stomach that epitomises energy in all forms. The mouse denotes the need to control ego, just as the rodent can slither away through any path thereby showing Ganesha as having a quality of all-pervasiveness and the laddoo held in the hand without consuming means that one can exist in this world without being distracted by temptations.

Shri Mahadevar Athisaya Temple, also known as Ganesha Temple has an idol of Lord Ganesha that is 23,000 years old! The idol changes color every six months from black to white and vice versa. To top that, the water in the well of the temple also changes to its color to opposite of that of the idol. That is, if the idol is white, the water’s color changes to black and when the idol is black, the water’s color changes to white. Lord Ganapathy is considered as a remover of obstacles who brings success and happiness in a person’s life. He is also known by several other names and show ways for experiencing peace of mind from several problems. Ganapathy is worshiped in different forms for getting blessings from him. It is said that offering prayers to Lord Ganapathy will result in several benefits to a person.

  • Do contact Temple Devasthanam information centre for enquiry, temple information and for Pooja details etc.

  • Do concentrate on God and Goddess inside the temple.
  • Do maintain silence and recite Om Namahsivaya or your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

  • Do not come to Temple for any purpose other than worshipping of God and Goddess.
  • Do not smoke at Temple.
  • Do not consume alcoholic drinks at Temple.
