Siddhivinayak Temple is Located in Prabha Devi, Mumbai, Siddhivinayak Temple was built in the 18th century.

Siddhivinayak or Lord Ganesha is the supreme deity of the temple and is famous for being the first one to be worshiped before commencing any new work or assignment. That is why he is also known as Vighnaharta (the terminator of impediments).

On the wooden doors of the shrine eight impressions of Lord Ganapati (Ashtavinayak) are carved. Siddhivinayak temple consists of one of the eight images of the God. Other distinct images are spread over seven temples situated in Maharashtra.

The temple is visited by the devotees all days of the year but Tuesday is the day when maximum numbers of people come to pray to the Lord for good luck.

The Siddhivinayak Temple is designed exquisitely and truly is one of the most magnificent shrines in Mumbai. The idol of Lord Ganesh is sculpted from a single black stone, which is about 2 feet tall.

The trunk of the Ganesh idol is tilted towards its right and the figure is represented with 4 hands. On both sides of the idol, figures of 'Goddess Riddhi' and 'Goddess Siddhi' are mounted.

The temple encompasses a small hall or 'mandapam' where Lord Ganesh is placed. The 'Gabhara' is an octagonal shelter, which is about ten feet wide that covers the idol of Lord Ganesh.

The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shri Ganesh. It is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was originally built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on November 19, 1801.

Though it is one of the richest temples in Mumbai, the current generation of Patil is staying in state of despair near the temple.The temple has a small mandap (hall) with the shrine for Siddhi Vinayak ("Ganesha who grants your wish").

The wooden doors to the sanctum are carved with images of the  Ashtavinayak (the eight manifestations of Ganesha in Maharashtra). The inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold, and the central statue is of Ganesha. In the periphery, there is a Hanuman temple as well.

This ancient temple was constructed in 1801 and is dedicated to the elephant-head deity of Hinduism, 'Lord Ganesh'. The shrine was reconstructed for accommodating more devotees after considering the opinions of many religious experts.

Every day, over 25,000 devotees flock the temple to offer their prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesh. Tuesday is considered to be the most important day for 'puja' and 'darshan' at this temple. Bollywood celebrities too, come to visit this divine place of worship to seek blessings before the launch of their new films or otherwise.

When one visits this place, one cannot help but admire the temple's ancient style of architecture and its many features. An elegant masterpiece with a unique design, the Siddhivinayak Temple is a hot-spot for tourists who visit Mumbai.

  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
