The temple is located in a small hillock on the banks of Uyyakondan channel.Women seeking wedding boon and those seeking child boon and relief from speech problems pray in the temple.The temple is located on a rock about 30 feet tall and is surrounded by a slender wall. The temple is reached by a fleet of steps.

The shrine of Vinayagar is located in a cut in the first 10 steps and the other shrines are located on the hillock. The whole temple is fortified and the temple tank is located inside the fortification. The temple is built in Sembian age of Cholas around 950 CE.  The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Temple Festivals:

The temple celebrates monthly Shivrathris, Maha Shivrathri in February-March, Pradoshams, all Mondays with Sankabisheka on last Mondy and Aipasi Poornima Annabisheka in October-November.

Sri aludayar temple is situated near the banks of south cauvery, Thiruchurapalli district.It is one of the ancient temple which was built 1000 years ago.Presiding deity Aludayar in Shivalinga form is 8.5 feet tall facing east. This is a Shiva temple without Mother shrine.

Lord Dakshinamurthy in the temple graces the devotees from the north of the Deva Kottam of the temple. Lord Vishnu is in the east, Mother Vishnu Durga is in the north and Lord Chandikeswara opposite the Durga shrine.  There is also a Maha Mandap and a Nandhi mandap in the temple.

  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets ,caps ,turbans and hats inside the temple premises
