Goddess Parameshwari appears soft & merciful on a lotus shaped peeta holding in her four hands (trident, kabala (skull) ,damaruko and kataka). The temple is an important shrine in the region for Naga dosha. Those facing Naga dhosha, adverse aspects of serpent doshas perform milk abishekam get their blessings. Most important festivals in the temple are Panguni Brahmotsavam, Masi in the month of March & Aadi in the month of July. The Masi festival is showering colorful flowers attracts thousands of people visting the shrine. Goddess Parameshwari is believed to cure diseases & also bless devotees with prosperity. On the day of Panguni Brahmotsavam Muthala amman comes in Lord Shiva vehicle of Rishaba Vaganam. Special pujas are conducted on every Friday evening. Panguni Brahmotsavam is great significance of this temple. In the Panguni Brahmotsavam, Muthalamman gives darshan to devotees riding on Rishabha Vechicle.

Special poojas are performed on every Fridays.
In order to cool down the fury of Godddess Parameshwari, a festival is called Poochoridhal raining baskets of flowers is devotionally perfomed in the temple.

About

Sri Muthala Parameshwari amman temple is located in Paramakudi, (tamil nadu). The temple is situated on southern bank of river Vaigai. About seven hundred years ago, Chola King ruling this region then announced a strange contest to participant should make out a chain from the neatly arranged pearls through the small holes without touching the pearls but all the participants did not well. A daughter of trader offer to accept the term, Young daughter enough to achieve the target. She arranged the pearls in such way placed the thread coated with sugar. After that the ants sen sing the sugar smell moved on the thread through the holes of the pearls. The girl promptly drew the thread carefully & completed the task. The Chola King appreciated the girl, offer many gifts & wanted her to marry him. when the girl refused, the king forced her to accept him. The frustrated woman resorted to self immolation & ended herself. The temple was built in praise of her divinity with sand brought from the place of her self immolation. As she made a chain with pearls, The girl was named in rememberings as Muthala Parameshwari.

 

Temple Festival:  Panguni Brahmmotsavam, Masi Poochoridhal , Aadi Mulaikottu Vizha and Purattasi Navarathri (September-October) are the festivals celebrated in the temple.

  • Do concentrate on God and Goddess inside the temple.
  • Do maintain silence and recite your Istamantram to yourself inside the temple.
  • Do observe ancient custom and traditions while in Temple.
  • Do respect religious sentiments at Temple.
  • Do deposit your offerings in the hundi only.

  • Do not come to Temple for any purpose other than worshipping of God and Goddess.
  • Do not smoke at Temple.
  • Do not consume alcoholic drinks at Temple.
  • Do not eat non-vegetarian food in the Kshetram.
  • Do not approach mediators for quick Darshanam. It may cause inconvenient to others.
  • Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
  • Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
  • Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
  • Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
  • Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
  • Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
