Sulakkal Mariamman Temple is located at Sulakkal in Coimbatore district.Goddess Parvathi Amman is the presiding deity here in the divine form of Sulakkal Mariamman.Maa Mariamman is a swayambhumurthy.

Farmers of Sulakkal village and neighbouring villages usually send their cattle for feeding to the nearest dense forest. They noticed that the quantity of milk from cows was decreasing. One day the farmers followed them and cited cows pouring milk in a sand-dune. Enraged farmers drove them off.

The leg of one cow was caught in a bush affixed to the sand-dune. The cow took off its leg and the Idol of Goddess Mariamman came out with a scar as a swayambhumurthy. Goddess Mariamman appeared in the dream of the owner of that particular cow and directed him to erect a temple for Her. Then Sulakkal Mariamman temple was built .
