Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple located on the bank of Asan river near Dehradun city, Uttarakhand. It is one of the most famous temple of Lord Shiva. The main Shiva linga  placed inside the natural cave. In this temple, water droplets continuously drops from the ceiling of the cave on the Shivalinga, hence it was named as 'Tapkeshwar'. Thousands of devotees visited Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple during Maha Shivratri.

History Of Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple

The cave to be once resided by Dronacharya - Guru of Pandavas & Kauravas. The cave is named as Drona Cave. When Kalyani (Dronacharya's wife) gave birth to Aswosthama, she didn't feed him properly. Dronacharya could not have enough money to provide cow milk to his son. Aswosthama, the blessed child prayed to Lord Shiva. Pleased with his praying, Lord Shiva feed him through dripping of milk from the Shivalinga in Drona Cave.
