Lord Brahma's four children came to meet Lord Vishnu at his place Vaikunth. Since Lord Vishnu was taking rest, the two guards at the entrance namedJaya and Vijaya ceased them from entering the gates. Lord Brahma's children were extremely furious and they cursed Jaya and Vijaya that they will born as a human in the earth.

Lord Vishnu came at the spot and apologized for Jaya and Vijaya's conduct as they were only doing their obligation. So as Brahma?s children said that condemnation would be lifted when Jaya and Vijaya in human forms would meet their demise at Lord Vishnu's hands. Because of that both Jaya and Vijaya were conceived as siblings named Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyaksha.
