Panchamukha Hanuman Temple Puja - Remove Heart Sorrows Forever
Sri Panchamukha Hanuman is an ancient temple located in Tharamani, Chennai. Lord Hanuman is in kneeling position with his right knee touching the ground. The five faces are Lord Hanuman, Lord Narasimha,Lord Garuda, Lord Varaha and Lord Hayagriva with 10 hands holding weapons Kumbh, Soolam, axe, chakra, Sword, Shield, Thanda, and a pot. Lower right hand in abhaya hastha and left hand holds a curved knife. Devotees Pray for to get relief from disease free life, for childboon and removal of obstacles in marriage arrangements.
As per legacy, during the war between Lord Rama and demon King Ravana who had abducted Goddess Sita, demon Ravana had seeked the help of Lord Mahiravana, who was the King of Patala Loka. However, Lord Hanuman, in order to protect Lord Rama and Lord Lakshman, had built a huge fortress around them with his tail. Later Lord Mahiravana disguised himself as Vibhishana, brother of demon Ravana who was helping Lord Rama in the war. He then, took Lord Rama and Lord Lakshman to Patala Loka so as to kill them. Lord Hanuman while searching them also reached Patala Loka where he found out that in order to kill Lord Mahiravana he is supposed to extinguish all the five lamps at the same time; these five lamps were burning in different directions. So to kill Lord Mahiravana and save Lord Rama and Lord Lakshman, Lord Hanuman took the form of Panchmukhi Hanuman & put out all the lamps at the same time.
